Who was your best friend? Spring Challenge - Day 6

Mission:  Talk about your best friend when you were 16, and where you stand today...

There's a lot to be said about your most intimate 'self' when you were 16.  You were still young and naive enough to think that everyone else understood where you were coming from.  I mean, we all grew up with goodnight moon, and a sense of trust that no matter where you found a friend, you thought they were an extension of who you were.  Right?

When I was 16 my best friend was Angie.  Any part of me that developed some sort of 'moxy' was taught by her.  Today, I think that's one of the best parts about me.

The last time I talked to Angie is when I saw her at a job site we were both working at.  She was an employee, I was a consultant.  She saw me park and walk into the building from her window, and came down to say hi.  That was about 1995-1997(you'd understand the gap in years if you really knew me!)  She was pregnant with her third child.  She always knew she wanted to be a mom.

We had about a 30 minute lunch, talked about our lives and said goodbye.

When I think about our 4 year relationship, yes, it shaped who I am (all my relationships do), but my 10 year relationship with my husband means a lot more.

  1. You've made me think about my best friends from the past. I find it funny that some friends you can catch up with, and tell all from the last few years in just a short time. Then there's other friends who you meet just start talking like you've never been apart!

  2. What a great prompt! It is sad at times to look back at all the 'long lost friends' but you do it the right way. You are thankful for what they gave you and who they made you. And even though ya'll have grown apart, she will always be some part of you :)

  3. This is such a great reminder about the people who have touched our lives and helped make us into who we are...

Coincidentally, my guest post today is written by my best friend from when I was 16! We don't see each other often these days with busy lives and families but it never matters - we can pick up right where we left off!

Great blog!! I'm glad you stopped by mine :)
