I was reading a Muscle and Fitness Hers magazine last night, and it had an interesting article about 7 foods we THINK are healthier for us, but there are some misconceptions. I decided to post sections of this article in installments. It may help you when making choices at the grocery store, and to go along with your specific diet.
The Dirt:
The Lean ground turkey that you buy in the store usually has a label marking that it’s 85% lean, sounds like your getting less fat, but unless the label says lean ground turkey “breast” it actually weighs you down with about 19 grams of fat. That’s more than most ground beef options. It’s fat content is due to the fact that there are the fattier parts of the turkey ground up in there (i.e. the skin.)
Get Ground Turkey Breast. It offers just as much protein.
Good to know, thank you!
